Free cooking demonstration

Kitchens at the Denver, a kitchen showroom at 761 Kalamath St., is hosting a free Turbochef event from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. It will include refreshments, chef-prepared cuisine and a look at Turbochef’s latest products, including an oven that cooks meals in significantly less time than conventional ovens – it can roast a full-size turkey in about 45 minutes. RSVP by calling 303-629-0119.

This teacher really rates

Gionni Thompson is the chemisty teacher at Aurora’s Hinkley High School who last year became the first winner of the DIY Network’s “Stud Finder” contest, which searched for a television-ready, do-it-yourself enthusiast. Thompson must have done something right in front of the camera because at 8 p.m. Sunday he debuts as the host of “Finished in 48,” a new DIY Network five-part docudrama-style show about real people trying to complete big renovation projects in just 48 hours. Check him out on Comcast digital cable Channel 277.
