BAYFIELD, Colo.—A Colorado Springs man and a teen accused of poaching could have their hunting and fishing privileges suspended.
Wildlife officials arrested Wayne Anderson and a 17-year-old boy whose name was not released on suspicion of hunting in a careless manner and illegal possession of wildlife, the Colorado Division of Wildlife said.
They were arrested Thursday after witnesses saw a man shoot a large mule deer buck that was walking across a light-industrial lot before leaving the scene, wildlife officials said. The witnesses followed the men’s vehicle and gave its license plate number to authorities.
Additional charges were pending. The two could be fined up to $2,000, the DOW said.
Mule deer enter their breeding stage in the late fall.
