Cut by the Broncos last week after underperforming through six games, defensive end Simeon Rice was claimed Monday by the Indianapolis Colts.
The Broncos in the off-season signed the 34-year-old Rice, who signed a $3 million deal six days before the start of the season. It didn’t work.
Rice was inactive for two games because he was ineffective and had no sacks in six games.
The claim reunites Rice with coach Tony Dungy who had him in Tampa Bay. The Colts claimed Rice after standout defensive end Dwight Freeeny suffered a foot injury in the Colts’ loss at San Diego on Monday.
