For the record: Wyoming 5-6, 2-5 Mountain West Conference.
Streaking: Senior PK Billy Vinnedge has connected on nine consecutive field goals.
Who’s hot: After going into a severe slump, sophomore quarterback Karsten Sween has rebounded nicely. He passed for 217 yards against a solid BYU defense, completing 17-of-29.
Who’s not: Wyoming defense was one of the best in the MWC until a few weeks ago. Hit hard by injuries and going back-to-back against two of the best teams in the league, Utah and BYU, the Cowboys have given up an average of 501 yards the past two weeks.
Key stat: Wyoming is averaging 132.6 yards rushing and had one of the MWC’s top tandems earlier this year in Wynel Seldon and Devin Moore. But Moore is injured and the Cowboys netted 9 yards vs. BYU.
FYI: Linebacker Luke Chase, a senior from Windsor, underwent surgery Saturday on a broken leg….This is the first time the neighbors meet in the final game of the season since 2000.
Coachspeak: “This is big, the Boot, the Border War, this is what it’s all about. Both teams need a victory to finish on a high note.” – Coach Joe Glenn.
