KIEV, Ukraine — Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych urged an independent probe Wednesday into the Black Sea ecological disaster caused largely by the splitting open of an oil tanker Nov. 11.
Four large ships also sank in the storm, and sulfur is currently reported to be leaking from one of them.
The prime minister also said that a group of 20 Russian and Ukrainian environmental experts was working alongside a European Union mission in the Kerch Strait, which joins the Black Sea to the much smaller Sea of Azov.
