This year I was “ready for some football” on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.” However, all I have seen since the Broncos’ first preseason Monday night game is a three-ring circus with broadcasting clowns Mike, Tony and Ron wisecracking and chit-chatting about everything BUT the game on the field. Add to this the Michelle and Suzy ring, the guest ring and the verbal-visual minutiae show, and my head was spinning like a child’s who had overdosed on cotton candy and clowns.
ESPN “Monday Night Football” has evolved into an entertainment package at the expense of the game.
It’s time to get back to the basics before all my rowdy friends and I turn out the lights on the Monday night party!

Numbers don’t lie
I understand about the point system (5, 3, 1), but how about these comparisons:
Offensive rankings:
Tulo — 1st in RBIs, multi-hit games, runs, hits, total bases, doubles, walks. The other guy — 1st in home runs, multi-hit games (tied with Tulo), slugging percentage.
That’s seven firsts versus three firsts.
Defensive rankings:
Tulo — 1st in total chances, fielding percentage, double plays (nothing here about his unassisted triple play). The other guy — no firsts; nothing better than 12th, and last in errors, 26 versus Tulo’s 11.
