Brooke Meyer and Andie Mason each scored 12 points, all on 3-pointers, to help lift the University of Denver women’s basketball team to an 80-68 victory over Montana State on Saturday.
Sara Benham and Jenna Cole added 10 points apiece for the Pioneers (1-2).
Montana State took a 15-5 lead early in the first half, but Denver rallied with a 16-2 run. The Pioneers led 42-33 at the break and built their biggest lead (55-38) with 13:33 remaining.
The Bobcats (2-2) pulled within five on a 12-0 run over the next three minutes, but a pair of Denver 3-pointers put the game back out of reach.
Rebecca Mercer and Krislyn Wallace led the Bobcats with 19 points each. Mercer made all seven of her free-throw attempts.
Sarah Strand added 14 points. She was 5-of-7 from the free-throw line.
