Three University of Denver men’s soccer players were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation’s all-conference team Monday, and Pioneers coach Bobby Muuss was tabbed co-coach of the year, the league said.

Goalkeeper Matt Bredehoft, midfielder Joe Mathot and forward Kyle Christensen were voted to the all-MPSF first team in a vote of the league’s coaches.

New Mexico midfielder Chris Wright was named the MPSF player of the year, and UNLV forward Daniel Cruz earned the newcomer award. UNLV’s Mario Sanchez shared the coach of the year award with Muuss.

Crush adds defensive lineman. The Colorado Crush of the Arena Football League signed a 10th player to its preseason roster, adding defensive lineman Darrell Burston.

Burston, a 6-foot-1, 245-pound rookie, played four years at Florida State and started most of his final two seasons. “Darrell is the total package. He is a great defensive player and has a solid grasp of the type of person he wants to be off the field,” Crush coach Mike Dailey said.

Big 12 first team includes area pair. Two former Colorado prep standouts — Nebraska’s Rachel Holloway and Tracy Stalls — were named to the Big 12 Conference first team in a vote of the league’s coaches.

Holloway, a sophomore setter, played at Smoky Hill High School. Stalls, a senior middle blocker, graduated from Lakewood High School.

Nebraska’s Sarah Paven was named the Big 12 player of the year, and Texas’ Jerritt Elliott was named the coach of the year. Colorado was shut out of the list, which was dominated by Nebraska and Texas players.
