A professional building in Craig was completely destroyed by a fire overnight.

Firefighters were called at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday to The Country Mall, 356 N. Ranney St., on a report of smoke, Craig Fire/Rescue Chief Chris Nichols said in a statement.

The fire broke out on the west side of the building, which houses 12 businesses, Nichols said.

Three engines and 22 firefighters with Craig Fire/Rescue fought the blaze, which had gotten into the attic and spread to the rest of building.

Firefighters and a single engine with the West Routt Fire Protection District helped fight the fire.

Firefighters contained the blaze by about 3 a.m., and a crew stayed on to make sure the fire didn’t flare back up, Nichols said.

No one was hurt.

Investigators were at the burned-out building today trying to determine the origin of the fire.

A dollar estimate of the damage was not disclosed.
