DENVER—The Denver Nuggets have hired Stacey Augmon, who was waived after playing for the Nuggets in the preseason, as a player development coach.
Augmon spent 15 seasons in the NBA with Atlanta, Portland, Charlotte/New Orleans and Orlando. He averaged 8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game in 1,001 career NBA games.
Augmon played for UNLV’s national championship team in 1990, when Nuggets Vice President of Basketball Operations Mark Warkentien and assistant coach Tim Grgurich were on the Rebels staff. Nuggets assistant coach John Welch coached Augmon earlier in his career at UNLV.
