Two pedestrians were injured when they were hit by a pickup truck in Aurora, police said.

The accident happened about 6:30 p.m. Monday at Chambers Road and East 13th Avenue, police said in a news release.

The victims, Abdirahman Hilowie, 19, and Siyad Khalif, 25, both of Denver, were taken to a local hospital, police said.

Both remain hospitalized. Hilowie suffered serious injuries, and Khalif’s injuries are moderate, police said.

The pair were walking west across Chambers Road at East 13th Avenue when they were hit by a red 2003 Dodge pickup truck heading south on Chambers Road in the right lane, police said.

The driver of the Dodge Truck, Patrick Mahadocon, 67, of Aurora, had a green light to go through the intersection, and the pedestrians had a red light, police said. He was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
