JEFFERSON COUNTY — Implementation of fees on youth activities at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds will be delayed until April 1, county officials announced.

The delay will allow time for funding alternatives to enable the fairgrounds and Colorado State University Extension to be less dependent on the county’s general fund, said Ralph Schell, the county’s community resources director.

County commissioners approved the charges — which are half the standard rate — to help defray a $12 million budget shortfall.
