Southwestern Colorado could get hit with the biggest storm of the season this weekend.
One to 2 feet of snow is forecast for the San Juan Mountains, and up to 3 feet of snow is possible for the south-facing mountain passes above 10,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service.
Up to 8 inches of snow could hit the northern mountains of Colorado this weekend.
The National Weather Service says the storms will begin late Friday, lasting through Saturday.
Today’s pleasant, mild temperatures in the metro area will give way to colder drizzle or light snow for the weekend.
Tonight in Denver, it will be clear and calm with low temperatures in the upper teens.
Friday in the metro area will be cooler than today, with high temperatures expected in the upper 30s.
There is a 20 percent chance of snow Friday night, which remains in the Denver-area forecast through Saturday night.
The snow could mix with rain in Denver on Saturday, according to the weather service, as high temperatures climb into the upper 30s during the day.
Sunday should be mostly sunny and warmer in Denver with a high of about 51 degrees.
