
Earlier this year, Colorado Golf Club in Parker burst onto the private Colorado golf scene. Now get ready for another monster development: Ravenna in Waterton Canyon. At build-out, its estimated value is projected at $500 million. The palatial clubhouse alone: $20 million.
For decades, private golf construction in Colorado was stagnant, until Cherry Creek Country Club, a remake of the old Los Verdes in southeast Denver, made everyone take notice when it sold out quickly. Cherry Creek’s success proved there was a demand in Colorado for private golf, leading directly to the development in 2007 of Colorado Golf Club and Ravenna.
Something of a rivalry has broken out between the two first-class developments, mainly because they are targeting similar audiences.
