A trucker who stopped on the shoulder of Interstate 70 near Bakersville was seriously hurt when a Jeep Wrangler struck him this morning. He was taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital.

The truck driver wasn’t in a designated chain-up area when he was hit at about 7:47 a.m., said Trooper Ryan Sullivan, of the Colorado State Patrol.

The accident happened near mile post 221. An investigation is still underway and the trucker’s name hasn’t been released.
