I’m supposed to be writing about the Broncos this morning, but I can’t bring myself to do it.
No, it’s not that I’m tired of marching out the Broncos’ numerous issues. It’s just that I can’t let their loss to the Raiders go without a few words about the team that beat them.
Or at least the fans of the team that beat them.
You’ve got to love Raiders fans. I’m not sure they’re numerous enough anymore to comprise a Nation, but the ones who remain are as loyal as they come.
Case in point: The Raiders had lost 17 consecutive games in the AFC West before beating the Chiefs two weeks ago. So what did that sign read in Oakland Sunday afternoon? “The Return To Glory Starts Now,” that’s what it read.
Trust me, the Raiders haven’t started their return to glory. They’re one of the worst teams in the league. But here’s to their remarkable fans.
If only our spouses were that patient.
