NASHVILLE, TENN. — The Rockies trophy case is getting crowded.

Tonight during the winter meetings, the Rockies will be presented a gleaming silver trophy in recognition by Baseball America as the Organization of the Year.

“This is a huge because it represents the entire organization,” general manager Dan O’Dowd said Monday night.

When it came time to hand out individual awards, the Rockies were shut out. Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun edged out shortstop Troy Tulowitzki for NL rookie of the year, Philadelphia’s Jimmy Rollins beat out Matt Holliday for MVP and manager Clint Hurdle came in third in voting for manager of the year.

But the Rockies, bolstered by homegrown talent, shocked the baseball world and won 21 of 22 games to advance to the World Series. On that World Series roster, the Rockies featured 16 home-grown players.
