The person hired by Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper to to head up a data-driven approach to crime-fighting is leaving for the private sector.
Jeremy Bronson last week gave his notice to the mayor in a personal meeting. Bronson in an interview declined to say where he is headed, saying he is waiting for his new employer to announce his hiring first.
“I just have an entrepreneurial spirit,” Bronson said. “And this way my chance.”
Bronson was a key part of Hickenlooper’s crime-fighting initiative unveiled in January of 2006. Hickenlooper hired Bronson as his special assistant to the mayor for public safety.
Bronson was charged with finding ways for the police department to make effective use of a new $22 million record-management system.
Prior to being hired by the mayor, Bronson worked for five years at Sun Microsystems Inc. He also worked as a legislative aide to former U.S. Sen Bob Graham, a Florida Democrat, from 1989 to 1994.
