Authorities identified today a man who died in the Boulder County Jail as Shane Edward Behanna.
Behanna, 39, was a resident of Erie, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
Behanna was serving a sentence for vehicular eluding and escape following a misdemeanor conviction.
He was re-arrested last month and taken into custody after failing to return to the jail from a work release assignment.
Authorities said the death is not suspicious or believed to be linked to foul play. An autopsy will be performed by the county coroner’s office and an official cause of death will be released after it is complete, the sheriff’s office said.
