Getting your player ready...
The Rockies are out of the Tadahito Iguchi sweepstakes.
Agent Rocky Hall confirmed late Tuesday night that the second baseman will sign a one-year deal with the San Diego Padres.
The Rockies were interested in Iguchi, believing he would be a good fit to fill the hole left by the departure of free agent Kazuo Matsui.
Another veteran whom the Rockies have shown interest in is former Cardinal David Eckstein. However, general manager Dan O’Dowd said Tuesday that they are not close to signing Eckstein.
“We do have some interest, but right now we are concentrating on getting our pitching staff put together,” he said.
