A federal grand jury has indicted nine people – including several family members – on drug trafficking charges, authorities announced Wednesday.
Authorities say members of the Fresquez family and others were responsible for the distribution of methamphetamine, cocaine, prescription narcotics, and marijuana throughout the Boulder County and Denver metropolitan area.
Shawn Caekaert, Benjamin Fresquez Jr., Eleanor Fresquez, George Fresquez, Matthew Fresquez, David Michael Romero, Michael Townsend, Alanna Turnbaugh, and Samuel Vigil were named in the indictments.
The nine were charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine, oxycodone, diazepam, and marijuana from March 2006 through September.
The indictment is the result of an 18-month undercover and wiretap investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the multi-agency Boulder County Drug Task Force.
If convicted, the defendants could face a maximum of 40 years imprisonment.
