EL PASO COUNTY — The body of a 63-year-old man found over the weekend in the South Platte River has been identified by authorities.

The Douglas County coroner’s office said the man was Spencer Dillon of Green Mountain Falls, a town west of Colorado Springs.

A relative of Dillon’s who lives in Arizona was notified of his death Tuesday, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy on patrol found an abandoned vehicle registered in El Paso County in the 2300 block of South Platte River Road about 7:50 a.m. Saturday.

After the vehicle was towed, the deputy searched the sparsely populated area and discovered the body about 9:40 a.m.

The death is still under investigation, and the coroner’s office is awaiting the results of toxicology tests to complete a final autopsy report.

Dillon did not suffer any obvious wounds or physical trauma, according to the coroner’s office, and investigators have not come across any signs of foul play in his death.
