Wyoming freshman point guard Marios Matalon is leaving the Cowboys’ basketball team and will return to his home in Greece, coach Heath Schroyer said.
“We are sorry to see Marios make this decision,” Schroyer said. “We were looking forward to him growing as a player in our program. Marios is a great young man, great player and teammate. We wish him and his family nothing but the best. I know he will be successful at whatever he chooses to do in life.”
Matalon, from Thessaloniki, Greece, averaged 1.7 assists in 11.7 minutes per game in three of Wyoming’s seven games this season.
