RTD officials are reminding commuters that transit fares will increase Tuesday, with the price of a local bus and light-rail ride jumping 25 cents, to $1.75.

The regular express cash fare also will increase by a quarter, to $3 a ride, as will the cost of a regional trip, which will be $4.

The discounted local cash fare — paid by senior, disabled, student and Medicare-eligible riders — will go to 85 cents a ride, from 75 cents.

The Regional Transportation District is increasing the cost of other fare categories, including regular and discounted monthly passes, 10-ride ticketbooks and skyRide trips to Denver International Airport.

Commuters can find a full list of the new fares at rtd-denver.com.

RTD said it will offer free rides on all buses and light-rail trains from 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to 6 a.m. on Jan. 1, when the new fares kick in.
