Arapahoe County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a minister of music at Heritage Christian Center on charges of sexual assault on a 15-year- old girl.

James Howard Brown’s wife called to report a disturbance at the couple’s home when the girl accused Brown of assault, said Arapahoe County Sheriff J. Grayson Robinson.

“Effective immediately, Mr. Brown has been relieved from all of his duties at Heritage Christian Center,” Garret Leonard, Heritage executive pastor, said in a statement. “We will assess the situation as more details become available. We will continue to pray for all parties involved in this situation.”

Brown, 38, was charged with three felony counts, including sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.

“It doesn’t appear that there are other victims at this time, though we are still investigating,” Robinson said.

Brown is credited as director on the church choir’s first album, “Send It Down,” made in 2001.

He is being held on $50,000 bail at the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility.

His initial court appearance is set for today at Arapahoe County District Court.
