West Virginia University’s Board of Governors is suing former football coach Rich Rodriguez to collect a $4 million buyout of his contract with the school.

The lawsuit, filed in Monongalia County Circuit Court on Thursday, states the university believes Rodriguez doesn’t intend to abide by the contract.

The buyout clause requires Rodriguez to pay $4 million to WVU over a two-year period, with one-third of the total due 30 days after his employment’s termination. His resignation was effective Dec. 19.

Illini’s Locksley denies interviewing at West Virginia.

Illinois offensive coordinator Mike Locksley emphatically denied a report that he interviewed for West Virginia’s head coaching job.

Locksley is considered a top coordinator and one of the key figures in Illinois’ recruiting efforts the past three seasons, but he insisted he has not had any contact with the Mountaineers.

Report: Lennon to Southern Illinois.

University of North Dakota football coach Dale Lennon is reported to be leaving for Southern Illinois.

Lennon will be named head coach at Southern Illinois today, the Grand Forks (N.D.) Herald said on its website, citing sources it did not name. Lennon would replace Jerry Kill, who went to Northern Illinois on Dec. 13.
