Tonight. Popular music. Tonight is your opportunity to make good on that see-more-local-music resolution and catch one of Denver’s most underappreciated pop bands headline an exciting rock bill. The Widowers have made some noise across town, but given their s psych-pop music’s impressive presence and gigantic Brit-influenced melodies, their shows should be packed — especially in a town with the Elephant 6 heritage of Denver. When the Widowers headline an excellent bill at the Larimer Lounge — also including Big Timber, Fissure Mystic and the Nicotine Fits — listen close to the finely composed pop tunes, “Interstate Eighty” in particular. If you want to hear more before heading out to the Larimer: . More info: .

Sunday. Radio comedy. The audience-participation “Radio Avenue” is a one-hour look at our world, driven by current events. This monthly live stage show is recorded at The Avenue Theater for broadcast the next day on KGNU radio. This week’s episode — to be taped at 2 p.m. Sunday at 417 E. 17th Ave. — will take a comical look back at absurd news events of 2007. We’re not promising, but we’re still fairly certain that the name “Spears” will come up several times. The lineup always includes live entertainment and a serious topical guest. Hosts are Bob Wells and Dave Johnson. The resulting show will be broadcast at 8 p.m. Monday on 1390 AM in Denver and 88.5 FM in Boulder. Free. For more information, call 303-321-5925.
