With the Buffalo Bills having completed their season, new Colorado State football coach Steve Fairchild arrives in Fort Collins today.
Having wrapped up his NFL duties as the Bills’ offensive coordinator, Fairchild and CSU will have a news conference at 11 a.m. today. It will air live on The Mtn. (Comcast 411).
His introduction to CSU fans comes Saturday when he addresses a crowd at halftime of the men’s basketball game against Nevada-Las Vegas at Moby Arena.

NLL salutes Mammoth trio.
The National Lacrosse League on Wednesday selected three Colorado Mammoth players for weekly honors after the Denver team opened the season with a 10-9 victory over Calgary last weekend.
Jason Wulder, who played in his first game with the Mammoth, was named NLL player of the week and offensive player of the week. He had three goals, including the game-winner, and an assist against Calgary.
Josh Sims was named the league’s transition player of the week and goaltender Gee Nash was given the defensive award. Calgary’s Dane Dobbie was named rookie of the week.
WCHA honors DU duo.
The Western Collegiate Hockey Association named Denver’s Brock Trotter its offensive player of the week and forward Tyler Bozak the rookie of the week after the Pioneers earned victories over Sacred Heart and Dartmouth last weekend. Michigan Tech goaltender Rob Nolan received the WCHA’s defensive player award.
U.S. team has Denver-area ties.
Rebecca Ruegsegger of Lakewood and Elizabeth Turgeon of Cherry Hills Village are among the players selected to USA Hockey’s first under-18 national women’s team.
The U.S. team will compete in the inaugural International Ice Hockey Federation under-18 women’s world championships beginning Monday in Calgary, Alberta.
Ruegsegger, the sister of University of Denver standout Tyler Ruegsegger, is one of two goaltenders on the U.S. team. Turgeon, the daughter of former NHL star Pierre Turgeon, is a forward on the 20-player team.
Star gymnasts coming to DU.
The University of Denver gymnastics team will welcome appearances by nine-time Olympic medalist Nadia Comaneci and two-time gold medalist Bart Conner when the Pioneers open their home schedule Jan. 12 against Washington (6 p.m.) at DU’s Hamilton Gymnasium.
