LARAMIE, WYO. — A snowmobiler has died after getting caught in an avalanche in the Snowy Range.
Albany County sheriff Jim Pond said the slide happened Wednesday as a party of eight snowmobilers were riding on U.S. Forest Service land near Lake Marie.
Four of them were caught in the avalanche and one of them died.
None of the others were seriously injured.
The sheriff’s office identified the dead man as Dale Wagner, who was in his 40s.
All eight snowmobilers were from Miller, S.D., officials said.
