DENVER—More snow is headed to Colorado.

The National Weather Service says a major storm will hit the mountains along the Continental Divide starting tomorrow, and will bring prolonged and heavy snow.

The heaviest snow will be in the southwest, but even the northern mountains will get as much as 16 inches.

Although recent snow has brought the statewide snowpack slightly above the 30-year average, more snow is needed to guarantee that water users will have enough this spring. The state, including towns, depends on snowpack for 80 percent of its surface water.
