Sportscaster Steve Gottsegen is out at KMGH-Channel 7. Saturday will be Gottsegen’s last day on-air after a nine-and-a-half-year run.

The Colorado native has been a Channel 7 sportscaster since 1998, starting as weekend sports anchor. He’s known since July that his contract was not being renewed. He has no definite future plans.

“I’m not leaving Denver,” Gottsegen said today. “If it means I’m done in television, that’s unfortunate.”

Gottsegen said he learned on the job, grew into “a pretty decent sportscaster” and enjoyed the ride.

“I haven’t worked a day in 20 years,” he joked. “I’m finally going to have to take my feet off the desk and get a job.”

KMGH has cut staff in recent months, in keeping with belt-tightening throughout the media.
