Getting your player ready...

Here’s the drill, sports fans. Now that the Broncos’ season is history, I’ll be typing about all things sports in this space. Count on it at noon Denver time, Monday through Friday, exclusively on Denver Post Online.

What’s that? You’re right. Enough already with the shameless plugs.

Let’s get right to it. Now that the alleged BCS national championship game is behind us, you want to know who’s going to win next year’s title.

FYI, Southern Cal is 3-1 at the Las Vegas Hilton sports book, with Florida next at 6-1, Oklahoma and Ohio State at 8-1, and LSU and West Virginia at 15-1.

Texas is 20-1, followed by Mizzou and Auburn at 30-1. Then there’s Virginia Tech at 30-1 and Kansas and Notre Dame tied at 60-1.

CU? The Buffs aren’t on the radar in Vegas. Not that Dan Hawkins has a major rebuilding project on his hands, but they’re in the dreaded “field” at 50-1.

Nebraska? The Cornhuskers are 200-1, just ahead of Oklahoma AEIOU&Sometimes Y and the Connecticut School of Taxidermy.

OK, so I made up that last sentence. But you get the picture. If Bo Pelini wanted to be part of a national championship team, he probably should have stayed at LSU.
