A day after his contract expired with the Broncos, offensive lineman Cliff Washburn signed with the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad.
Washburn is with the Packers and practicing in preparation for their playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC semifinals.
Washburn was the only one of Denver’s seven practice squad players not to sign a reserve/future contract on Dec. 31. He said he was weighing his options at that point. However, Washburn’s contract expired Monday. He spent the entire season with the Broncos’ practice squad.
Backing off. During a radio interview Tuesday morning on the “Lewis and Floorwax Show” on Denver’s KRFX 103.5 FM, wide receiver Javon Walker eased off the harsh comments he made about his future with the Broncos on Dec. 31, the day after his injury-riddled season ended. He chalked it up to frustration. Still, it is likely Denver will seek to trade or release him. The only chance for him to return rests on his contract being heavily reworked.
