Two communities in finals for award
Two metro-area communities have been named finalists for the National Association of Home Builders’ Community of the Year award.
The communities are The Landmark in Greenwood Village, developed by Everest Development Co., and Southshore in Aurora, developed by Laing/Village LLC, a partnership of John Laing Homes and Village Homes.
The Landmark features two residential high-rises and a luxury European-style development, which includes seven five-story Manor Home buildings, each with 23 residences, and 60 three-story Brownstones.
Southshore is a waterside master-planned community along the Aurora Reservoir near E-470 and Smoky Hill Road.
The winner will be announced Feb. 13 in Orlando, Fla.
Homes for active adults
Colorado Builders is putting the finishing touches on the first home in a new gated, active-adult community in Windsor.
Veranda Villa in Belmont Ridge will include 59 maintenance-free villas, with prices ranging from the mid-$300,000s up to the $500,000s. Standard features will include wood floors, 3-foot-wide doors, granite counters and full landscaping.
The community will have a clubhouse with a pool, tennis courts and bocce ball court.

Owners and prospective buyers of Four Seasons Private Residences Denver can see the progress of the project through a construction Web camera. Images at are updated every 15 minutes.
The camera will take 96 photos a day until the grand opening in 2010.
Seminar on affordable homes
American Sunrise Communities will host a seminar to educate people on affordable homeownership opportunities at Stapleton.
To qualify to purchase an affordable home at Stapleton, annual household income must fall below $40,150 for a household of one; $45,900 for household of two; $51,600 for a household of three; $57,350 for four; $61,950 for five; and $66,550 for six.
