Snow continues to fall in parts of the Colorado high country today, and it could continue in some areas through Saturday.
In Denver, mostly cloudy skies today will bring a slight chance of snow — 10 percent — this afternoon, and the high temperature should be about 43 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
A Pacific front out of the northwest will bring more snow to the mountains, including up to 7 inches across the northern mountains west of the Continental Divide through midnight, the service forecasts.
Other mountain areas should get less snow. Some lower elevations will receive only about an inch out of the storm.
This morning, U.S. 6 at Loveland Pass was closed because of a fuel-truck accident. Vehicles carrying hazardous material were being sent through the Eisenhower Tunnel, creating some delays there.
The front will bring strong winds to the mountains, which are likely to begin this afternoon. The weather service has posted snow and blowing-snow advisories in the northern and central mountains. Drivers should be aware that snow and blowing snow may shut down some mountain passes.
Tonight will be partly cloudy in Denver with a low of around 21 degrees.
Saturday and Sunday in Denver will be partly sunny, with high temperatures in the lower to mid 40s.
