The family of a 10-year-old who was shot and killed in her home is having a fundraiser, with hopes of using the proceeds to help them find a new home.

Auralia Cisneros died Nov. 26 when she was caught in a crossfire of bullets at her southwest Denver apartment at 4711 W. Tennessee Ave.

After the girl’s death, her parents, Leo “Mickey” Cisneros and Amanda Salas, told police they were the victims of a drive-by shooting.

Investigators determined shots were fired from inside the apartment as well as outside, and Cisneros admitted to exchanging gunfire with men who had come to his door.

Police said marijuana was involved and that the case had gang overtones. Family members have said they have no gang ties and did not sell marijuana, despite Internet sites tied to them that suggested otherwise.

Three people have been arrested in connection with Auralia’s death — Juvencio Hernandez, Trivi Trujillo and Joshua Rojas.

After the shooting, Denver social workers took custody of three children, Auralia’s younger siblings.

Cisneros and Salas have not been charged with any crimes related to Auralia’s death.

The Saturday night fundraiser will be used to help the family find a new home “so they could get the rest of their children back,” said Jonathan Davis, a cousin of Salas, in an e-mail.

The fundraiser will help the family “get back on their feet,” he said.

The benefit starts at 3 p.m. Saturday at Angel’s Sports Bar, 1630 Federal Blvd., Davis said.

Food, drinks, entertainment and raffle giveaways will be included. There will be an admission fee of $10 for teens and adults. The fee for children 12 and under will be $3. At 9 p.m. the benefit will be limited to adults, 18 and over.

Live entertainment will include performances by Hustle Hard and Sick-N-Twisted.
