Getting your player ready...

The important thing for Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds was seeing a sense of urgency in the Falcons’ second Mountain West Conference game.

The upturn resulted in a 65-53 upset victory at home Saturday over UNLV. AFA (9-6, 1-1) faces another big test tonight at Wyoming (6-8, 0-2).

Reynolds wasn’t specific when asked about his team’s focus. Was it conference play, or this year’s team wanting to shape its identity and escape comparisons to last year’s 26-9 team?

“I’m sure our players would like the liberty of not having to look to the past,” Reynolds said. “It was our best combined effort of the season. I saw the sense of urgency in our ability to get loose balls and make the big plays.”

Reynolds then spoke of the next task, facing the Cowboys, who are in their first season under coach Heath Schroyer.

“The challenge for our team is to get a victory on the road,” he said. “That’s taking the next step for us.”
