GOLDEN — Jefferson County officials said they would consider improvements to its juvenile assessment center when the facility moves this summer from deteriorating quarters near the county jail to a recently county-purchased building at 11011 W. Sixth Ave.
Delbert Elliott of the University of Colorado at Boulder met with county commissioners Monday to discuss what a model juvenile assessment center would entail.
Without making specific recommendations, Elliott urged officials to look at any improvements that standardize screening of the several thousand at-risk and arrested youths who are seen at the center each year.
In addition, Elliott suggested better coordination and information sharing between the center’s partners.
Jefferson County Judge Brian Boatright said the center’s board will meet this spring to prioritize and implement suggestions.
