The University of Denver women’s basketball team set two milestones with its 57-46 win over Arkansas State on Thursday night at Magness Arena, recording its first Sun Belt Conference win of the season and 100th in nine seasons of Sun Belt play.

Alisha Godette, who was a standout at Doherty High School, led three Pioneers in double figures with 16 points, and junior Sara Bents had her first career double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds). Brooke Meyer, a Cherry Creek alum, had 11 points.

Bents and Meyer each scored six points in a 24-7 first-half DU run that gave the Pioneers (6-11, 1-5 SBC) a 14-point lead. DU led 32-21 at the half.

Northern Colorado 71, Eastern Washington 57

GREELEY — Three games into the Big Sky Conference schedule, UNC matched last year’s win total with its second victory. The Bears (8-8, 2-1) had their best shooting game of the season, making 48 percent of their field goals.

Freshman guard Kate Kevorken set one career mark with six 3-pointers and tied another with 18 points.

Men

DU 59, Arkansas State 52

Denver moved into a tie for first place in the Sun Belt Conference West Division with the win at Magness Arena, which came largely on the efforts of two underclassmen: freshman guard Kyle Lewis (19 points) and sophomore forward Nate Rohnert (13).

Eastern Washington 91, Northern Colorado 85, OT

CHENEY, Wash. — Adris DeLeon scored 42 points and hit 8-of-10 from the foul line to lead the Eagles (8-12, 3-3 Big Sky).

Thanasi Panagiotakopoulos opened the overtime with a 3-pointer as Northern Colorado (8-9, 2-3) grabbed a 74-71 lead. Eastern Washington responded with 12 consecutive points, including a pair of 3-pointers from Milan Stanojevic, to open an 83-74 lead with 1:59 left.

The Bears got as close as 84-79 on a drive by Will Figures with 1:29 left before DeLeon closed it out at the foul line.
