The Lakewood Housing Authority recently won accolades from the National Community Development Association for the Residences at Creekside, a new “green” senior housing community located at 1700 Pierce St. The 118-unit development includes a solar power installation, a 25,000- watt rooftop photovoltaic system, low-E glass, Energy Star-rated appliances and compact fluorescent bulbs throughout. These sustainable building elements are designed to translate into lower utility costs for residents, most of whom are on fixed incomes. Learn more about Creekside at 303-974-2500 or .

But anyone hoping to salvage an old analog TV should take a look at this: The Insignia Digital-Analog Converter, coming soon to Best Buy locations. The box will cost about $50, is Energy Star-compliant and includes a variety of bells and whistles like parental control.
