WELD COUNTY — Three people were injured Thursday when a fire erupted about 12:45 p.m. at Conquest Oil Co. near Gilcrest.

The fire was in one of the facility’s large storage tanks that contains an oil-water mix, said Margie Martinez, spokeswoman for the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire, which could be seen for miles, was out by 4 p.m.

Martinez said the most seriously injured was a Conquest employee identified as Omar Saenz, 22. She said Saenz suffered severe facial burns.

Also injured were Justin Raymer, 25, employed by Leeds Energy, and Mark Speaker, 30, employed by North Plain Trucking, she said.
