MESA, Colo.—Mesa County search and rescue team members found a group of seven snowmobilers stranded in deep snow on the Grand Mesa and brought them to safety early Sunday.
The search began Saturday night after a cell phone call for help.
Searchers found a fire the snowmobilers, all from the Grand Junction area, had built and escorted them off the Mesa. No one was hurt.
Heavy snow was forecast for Sunday night in the area with near-blizzard conditions. Much of the mesa is above 10,000 feet.
