Highlights from the Legislature on Monday.
— The full Senate gave final approval to a measure (Senate Bill 3) that allows families of four earning up to $41,000 to get Medicaid coverage for family planning services. The bill now heads to the House.
— The full Senate gave initial backing to a proposal (Senate Bill 42) to give public trustees in 10 counties a $24,000 raise over three years because of the increase in their workload. They now earn $48,500. The raises would be for trustees in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Douglas, El Paso, Jefferson, Larimer, Mesa, Pueblo, and Weld counties.
— A bill designating the western painted turtle as the state reptile (House Bill 1017) passed the House on a 56-9 vote and now goes to the Senate.
— The Senate State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee backed a proposal (House Bill 1155) to allow Secretary of State Mike Coffman to retest the electronic voting machines that were decertified last month. The measure now heads to the full Senate for a vote.
New Bills Introduced
— Increase the eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits for a person who leaves work to be with a spouse in the military to remove a requirement that the transfer must be during time of war or armed conflict.
