FORT COLLINS — For the first time in Mountain West Conference play, Colorado State positioned itself to win a game.

But once again, CSU lost — this time 83-82 tonight to San Diego State.

Mountain West scoring leader Marcus Walker dropped a 3-pointer from beyond the top of the key for an 82-80 CSU lead with 39 seconds left.

Lorrenzo Wade answered for San Diego State with his own 3-pointer with 20 seconds remaining.

CSU had a chance at the end, but Willis Gardner missed in close.

Walker, who came in averaging 23.2 points in MWC games, scored 26 points. He found some rare support when Jesse Woodward came off the bench for 18 points, 13 in the first half.

Ryan Amoroso led the Aztecs with 23 points. Wade finished with 18.

CSU dropped to 6-14, 0-6, while San Diego State improved to 5-2, 15-6.
