PHOENIX — John should be joined.
Will it happen this week at the Super Bowl? I genuinely believe so.
John Elway is the Broncos’ only true representative in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and it’s way past time he was joined.
As a member of the Hall of Fame selection committee for a lot of years, I tried to get Randy Gradishar in, but he was denied. (Floyd Little only is eligible as a senior, and was not included again this year).
Randy’s chances this year are probably 50-50, because it’s his last year of regular eligibility, because the field is not that special, and because some of his detractors are no longer serving. (Two are.)
Gary Zimmerman should be a lock — finally — although I felt he was a lock before. I would make it 75-25 for him.
A team that has been to six Super Bowls deserves more than one player — at least one for each Bowl Elway, Zimmerman, Gradishar, Davis, Sharpe and Atwater (even though Louis Wright was a better player).
