
Snow that began falling around rush hour on Wednesday could complicate this morning’s drive as well. Up to five inches of snow fell in in some parts of the metro area.
The heavier-than-expected snow caused Boulder Police to issue an accident alert around 5 p.m., as nearly 4 inches of fresh snow piled up.
Highlands Ranch reported 5 inches, Wheat Ridge 4 inches and Lakewood 4 inches.
The National Weather Service reported that the brunt of the storm moved to the south, causing havoc from Pueblo to the New Mexico state line. Interstate 25 was closed from Pueblo to Walsenburg for four hours Wednesday night.
The snow ended around 10 p.m. Wednesday in the metro area, with skies clearing.
Temperatures are expected to dip down to 9 degrees early Thursday morning, then rise into the mid 40s. The rest of the week will have highs in the 30s, with light snow predicted for Sunday.
