ASPEN, Colo.—Nine people ended up in a temporary detox facility during last weekend’s X Games in Aspen, fewer than officials expected.

An estimated 72,500 people attend the four-day extreme sports festival, which ended Monday.

A nonprofit agency called the Right Door, which helps with alcohol and drug problems, operated a temporary detox center on Friday and Saturday nights. Right Door director Brad Osborn says the center wasn’t as busy as he feared.

At least three people were taken to the Pitkin County jail Thursday night, but authorities would not say how many were drunk or on drugs. Sunday night arrest numbers haven’t been released.

Sheriff’s detention deputy Roger Ryan says the majority of people taken to the jail “are under the influence of something.”
