GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Mesa County sheriff’s officials say deputies have made contact with a male and a 15-year-old girl suspected in an auto theft from Glenwood Springs.
The suspects had fled on foot after the vehicle crashed on Interstate 70 Saturday afternoon, but a chase was called off due to weather and safety reasons.
Authorities say both suspects appear to have mild hypothermia or frostbite. Rescuers worked to get them out of the backcountry Saturday night.
Sheriff’s officials say that after the chase was called off, the girl called a relative, who alerted authorities and said that the girl said she had a head injury.
