GLENDALE, ARIZ. – Do the Giants have a chance today in Super Bowl XLII against the perfect New England Patriots?
No, not really.
And that’s no knock on the Giants. They have had a remarkable run through the playoffs. They won road games at Tampa Bay, Dallas and Green Bay.
But this is the Patriots we’re taking about. A totally different ballgame.
The Giants gave New England all it could handle in the final regular-season game in New York, and still it wasn’t enough.
Now, the Giants have gained a lot of momentum since . They got plenty of confidence by taking the Patriots to the limit, and many in the New York organization have credited that very momentum for sponsoring New York’s ride through the playoffs.
That’s all believable and fine. But now, the Giants are facing the Patriots again and they must come to grips with the reality that their best effort wasn’t enough against New England.
That is going to be a tough reality to handle.
