Mountain communities should get more fresh powder piled on an already dense snow pack and the metro region may get a dusting tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
“There’s a variety of weather warnings over the mountains. There will be heavy snow over the San Juans, but in our local mountains, Summit County, not a huge amount, three to six inches from tonight until tomorrow,” said Scott Entrekin, NWS meteorologist.
In Winter Park and other resorts close to Denver, snow is likely mainly after 11 a.m. Total daytime accumulation could be less than 1 inch.
There could be more snow tonight and bone-chilling cold, with a wind chill as low as 4 below zero.
Along the metro corridor there is a slight chance of snow this afternoon through tonight.
Heavier snow showers could develop to the east and south of Denver by early this evening. The bands of snow could produce a quick one to two inches of snowfall in an hour.
Monday afternoon could bring another 3 inches of snow, most of it piling up on the south side of the metro area.
